In the Doctor’s Vegetable Garden

The painting shows the vegetable garden Dr Giorgio Bartolomei grew at his house. It was a place in Anghiari that the artist was familiar with and visited regularly in summer days, and where he stayed after the First World War. In this work, Vagnetti combines the Divisionism technique, which is evident in the point-like brushstrokes, a drawn pattern and a neat spatial consistency.
