Description: The last phase of the activity of this artist, who gets his name from the panel painting attributed to him that is now found in the Lazzaroni Collection in Paris, stands out because of his obvious concessions to the late Gothic style. In this work, dating from 1380-1385 and now in a modern frame, the Master moves away from the rigid compositional structures and lines inspired by Orcagna to create more refined, bright forms, preferring to paint softer figures, and abandoning the dramatic tones of his previous work. The composition, which is typical of Florentine painting of the late fourteenth century, represents the Coronation of the Virgin as a celestial event that takes place above the figures who witness the scene.
