The large initial P at the bottom of the page introduces Saint Paul's letter to Timothy, a text represented by the scroll that Paul presents to the bishop. A curling vine extends from the base of the letter into the lower border of the page and supports a horn player who seems to announce Paul's letter. As the source of inspiration for Paul's text, God looks down from within a twisting tendril at the top of the page with his hand held in a gesture of blessing and approval.
