In the initial P at the top of the page, Paul passes a scroll to a messenger who will convey the author's letter to the Philippians, as a bishop, who stands between them, looks on. The monk writing on a scroll in the initial P at lower left suggests the manuscript's monastic origins--it was probably created in a monastic scriptorium and originally used by a community of monks in Bologna, where it was made.
