Skjöldebrand was a Swedish nobleman, officer, writer and an artist, who travelled thru Finnmark at the beginning of the 1800s when the Swedish crown was interested in the local copper resources in the region. He is one of many artists who travelled to Northern Norway to paint popular exotic motifs like the North Cape on Magerøya.
