The Immaculate Conception as symbol of Mary's perfection defines the typical iconography of Baroque: the Virgin descends from the sky over the crescent moon as chastity symbol, surrounded by angels and cherubs, and crowned by stars; as winner of the original sin she crushes the tempting snake, representing evil. In this case we find a Précieuses work, with small head and with lively crystal eyes; the clothes flow in the wind, creating small and moving creases, with a very rococo air. The slimming of the lower part of the figure helps to give lightness since it seems to slightly alight in the throne of clouds from which angel heads come out.
