Fifteen Colombian emeralds and 336 diamonds make up the strands of this intricate necklace. The 45-carat emerald in the center represents the very best emerald color and quality. The upper chain, lower pendant, and small modern brilliant-cut diamonds were added in the 20th century. Designed by Harry Winston, Inc., this ring features a heart-shaped, 30.62 carat blue diamond mined from South Africa. The ring was donated to the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of Natural History by Mrs. Marjorie Merriweather Post in 1964.
