A fine floor mat, woven on the loom, with sparse decoration, self-patterned borders with interlocking lozenge pattern and pairs of brown brocaded bands. The inscriptions, written in a Kufic script, have benedictory content with details about the work's creation, as naming Tabariya the place of production. Such floor coverings were made for domestic and religious interiors and were possibly used during prayers. Made in Tiberias, 10th c. H 242 cm W 115 cm (ΓΕ 14735)
