"Timur Ruby" a large spinel drop (249.31 carats), roughly teardrop shaped with a pronounced indentation on the lower right, of gabled section on the front and near flat at the back. Transversely drilled at the upper end, and inscribed on the front with the names of six rulers.

  • Inscription: The largest inscription spreads across the centre of the stone: Timurid Ruler Ulugh Beg, (before AD 1449). The second inscription in chronological order is situated immediately to the left of the principal inscription: Safavid Ruler of Iran Shah 'Abbas I (dated AH 1026/AD 1617). The third inscription in chronological order is situated immediately to the right of the principal inscription: Emperor of Mughal India Jahangir (dates AH 1030/AD 1621). On the edge of the stone, immediately below the previous inscription: Emperor of Mughal India Shah Jahan (undated). The lower tip of the stone is engraved with the name of the Emperor of Mughal India Awrangzib Abu 'l-Muzaffar Muhammad 'Alamgir (dated AH 1070/AD 1659-60). The upper left hand side of the stone, is wheel-cut above the principal inscription: Durrani Ruler of Kandahar and Kabul Ahmad Khan Abdali (dated AH 1168/AD 1754-55)
