Inspecting wares in an open stove, late 18th century

When the white porcelain had been decorated with enamel colours, it needed a second firing to fix the colours. This picture shows a workman inspecting an open stove with a front opening. Inside it are the wares lying on an iron wheel placed upon a metal fork which is rotated and baked on a charcoal fire.
