Authenticity
Although Some of the structures of the Canal were severely damaged during WWII the ensemble as a whole has come down to us almost unchanged. The facades of most of the buildings and structures are authentic as well as interiors of some of them. Also, some mechanisms from the 1930s are in good condition and still functioning.
The authentic gilt Star installed on the spire of the Northern river station and decorated with precious stones has survived to our days.
It was shaped on the model of the stars that were installed on the towers of the Moscow Kremlin also in the 1930s.
