In Future You, you are faced with a unique reflection of your potential, synthetic self. Starting as a primitive form, it learns from your movements to adapt and evolve, suggesting an agile, superior version of you. The artwork evolves, creating a new visual response for each visitor.
Digital art and design collective Universal Everything will take over the Barbican’s main Silk Street entrance hall to create a new installation, Future You, where visitors can interact with an AI version of themselves. Large digital avatars mimic visitors’ movements onscreen. When the exhibition opens, the character begins in primitive, childlike form and evolves throughout the exhibition’s run, as it learns new ergonomic abilities.
Universal Everything are a global collective of designers, animators, musicians and developers, exploring human expression and collaboration using emerging display technologies. They create video artworks for innovative structures, invent immersive multi-sensory experiences, and direct new forms of moving image for the screens of the future.
