The dark blue uniform skirt was one of his outer characteristics: King Frederick II of Prussia (1712-1786) staged himself almost daily since the Seven Years' War (1757-1764) as a "roi-connétable", as a king general. This appearance was also memorized by posterity and became a part of the Prussian-German pictorial memory. Of the approximately 90 uniform skirts that Frederick II may have worn, three are still preserved today, this one dates from the last years of the king's life.
