The swagged pelmet on a pole and tieback draperies in the rear of this library suggest the Regency period. The prints on the fireplace wall on the right show people in academic or clerical robes. Bookcases line the left wall, where a lower cabinet door is ajar. Nearby, a library ladder, desk and books piled on the floor reveal that this room is a working library, possibly belonging to an Oxford don.
