Gur Emir is the burial place of Amir Timur, his two sons, his grandchildren, and his spiritual mentor. The interior of inner part also impresses with its monumentality: to increase the space, the masters made niches in the form of a cross. The luxury of the decorative coating, the richness of blue and gold colors on the high panel of light green onyx attracts the eye. The marble cornice above the panel is decorated with artful paintings. A Sura from the Qur'an is repeated sixteen times on the 16-sided section between the dome and the sail tier. The walls are made in the form of a huge alabaster panel with a pattern of stars, the dome and arch dazzle with the beauty of relief projections of papier-mache covered with floral ornaments.
