About the series: My project on an extended Bengali family in Kolkata began in 1999 and spans a decade. It is an effort to explore relationships and intimacies that the members enjoyed amongst them. Being very close to the family made this work, to a large extent, personal and autobiographical. During my long association, I witnessed, and was an active participant in the joyous moments, and the grief of the Chatterjee family.
About the Photographer: Kushal Ray is an ex-sports journalist; he has been working as an independent photographer since 1991. His first solo exhibition, on Ladakh, was held in Mumbai in 1998. His International exhibitions include the first Singapore International Photography Festival and the British Museum in London. He is associated with Grauwert Gallery, Germany.
