Prison Work as a Career: Introduction

Prison Work as a Career was one of numerous text books that were required reading in training courses for correctional officers in the 1930s and 1940s. In addition to classroom instruction, correctional officers also underwent physical and self-defense training, firearms instruction, and training in various specialties, from food service to supervision.
