Inés de Zúñiga, Countess of Monterrey

The portrait of Inés de Zúñiga, Countess of Monterrey, when she was about twenty, is considered to be one of the most beautiful portraits by this artist and of his time.

Her fine features and intelligent smile dominate the composition, and her elaborate clothing stands out with a tight doublet with two large flaps (parts that hung down from the waist) that cover the upper part of the enormous skirt (a garment that women used to use over their clothes to go outside). A pink ribbon is hanging from her waist, holding a curious toilet bag shaped as a pistol.
