Contains celestial cartography in the form of individual constellation plates from both the northern and southern hemispheres, from the internal perspective, and using the ecliptic coordinate system, in the following order: Ursa Minor, Ursa Major, Draco, Cepheus, Bootes, Corona Borealis, Hercules (holding the apples of the Hesperides), Lyra, Cygnus, Casseiopeia, Perseus, Auriga, Ophiuchus, Serpens, Sagitta, Aquila (includes the obsolete constellation of Antinous), Delphinus, Equuleus, Pegasus, Andromeda, Hydra, Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpius, Sagittarius, Capricornus, Aquarius, Pisces, Cetus, Orion, Eridanus, Lepus, Canis Majoris, Canis Minor, Argo Navis, Centaurus, Crater, Corvus, Triangulum, Lupus, Ara, Corona Australis, Delphinus. The last three plates differ slightly, as follows: 1. This is a map that was added in (not based on Bayer's own observations) to show the new constellation discoveries of Keyser and de Houtman and the Magellanic Clouds; 2 and 3: Stars-only planisphere, designed to show where the ecliptic and the celestial equator intersect.
