Gohar Dashti (1980) received her Master's degree in photography from the Tehran University of Art in 2005. She found a way to express her artistic feelings by making large-scale photographs with a focus on social issues. Her work references contemporary history and culture and the convergence of anthropological and sociological perspectives, employing a unique, almost theatrical aesthetic. She deploys diverse intellectual and cultural experiences to illuminate and elaborate on her perception of the world around her. In "Iran, Untitled", Dashti stages, in an almost surreal desert landscape, a "conversation" about the consequences of war, where action and pause, constantly contradicting each other, mirror modern society. The blue sky and barren land serve as a frame for a shot with the essential features of everyday life.
