Severe-looking piece, with a structure in beaten cast iron, reinforced with iron straps, weighs around 800 kg and rests directly on the floor. Safe-deposit boxes were widely used for the transportation and storage of money and documents, in homes or public offices. To guarantee security, this specimen has two locks. The piece is part of the MCB Collection, and is available for viewing at the long-term exhibition at the Museu da Casa Brasileira called ‘Remains of the Atlantic Forest & MCB Collection’.
