After overcoming some difficulties, the Portuguese leave Calicut, beginning their journey back to their homeland. Venus decides to prepare a reward for the sailors, making them reach the Island of Love. To do this, Venus sent her son Cupid to shoot arrows of love at the nymphs, who will receive the Portuguese sailors madly in love with them. The artists depicted this scene with the goddess of love sending the fleet to the Island of Love and, on the right, a nymph waiting for the sailors.
