A hand is holding the claws of a gerfalcon's claws. It is stretched into the painting from left side, dressed in a leather glow and a blue and red uniforms sleeve. The bird's head is covered with a cap. This cap is embroidered in gold and silver with an electorial crown, on top of it a crest of red, yellow, white and blue yarns. Around the bird's legs little bells are fastened. The hand and the bird are seen against a background of a light blue sky with some clouds above a low horizon with a sloping range of mountains. Underneath the mountains at the right side of the painting a long text is discernible, on a rather clumsily painted ground of dark brown colour. With some difficulty the following can be read:
"Dieser graue Eyssländer Terz Kron // printzk genant ist vom Ihro Mayestät dem Könige // von Dennemark an Ihro Hochfuerstl. Durchl. Herrn Marq- // graffen Christian Friedrich Carl Alexander zum Present // ueberreichet worden so den 30 October Ao 1758 in Fried(richs)dorff angelangt und hat ao 1759 an seinen rothen feedern 16 Milanen gefangt"
It is not signed.
