Isoetes taiwanensis is a typical aquatic fern, and also an endangered species endemic to Taiwan. The only original habitat is Dream Lake on Mt. Qixing in northern Taiwan. The National Museum of Natural Science received its seedlings as a gift in 1991. After years of breeding, it has been able to reproduce in an outdoor environment and its population has grown to hundreds of seedlings. Recently, in addition to providing material for teaching and research at all levels, this museum provides Isoetes taiwanensis to schools for sustainable campus exhibitions, thereby passing on its experience of breeding Isoetes taiwanensis to the general public.
