Isolde Menges (1893–1976) studied with Sauret and Auer, and became one of the foremost violinists of the early twentieth century. She worked with the leading conductors and orchestras of her day and toured internationally giving recitals and concerto performances. Menges made the first complete recording of the Beethoven Violin Concerto in 1923. She was a professor at the College from 1931–1969.
