"Ivanov" by Chekhov, director: Jan Englert, stage design: Andrzej Witkowski; from the left: Janusz Gajos (Shabelsky), Andrzej Łapicki (Lebedev). Jan Englert staged the first full-length play by Anton Chekhov with a star-studded cast. Janusz Gajos appeared as the failed henpecked husband, Lebedev. With his role of the declassed Count Shabelsky, Andrzej Łapicki returned to the National Theatre. This role also turned out to be his farewell to the stage.
