Izushi Ware - Vase with peony

The large depression in the body of this vase is adorned with reliefs of peonies. The reverse side is equally adorned with reliefs of lotuses. Around these are painted designs of clouds and a dragon in red and gold, creating a gorgeous and luxurious mood. The color arrangement follows the style of Kutani Ware from Ishikawa prefecture that was popular as export products during the same period.
