David Shrigley’s work is animated by dark, anarchic humour and a sideways take on life and death. In his own words, his varied work exists ‘somewhere between comic book art and conceptual art.’ A Jack Russell Terrier, rendered uncannily life-like through taxidermy, holds up a sign announcing that it is dead. I’m Dead was part of the artist’s solo exhibition Brain Activity, held at the Hayward Gallery in 2012.
