Not much silverware is seen on dining tables nowadays, but in the past it was extremely popular -- particularly in its heyday, the Edwardian era. New processes and skills were developed in the 19th and early 20th centuries to keep pace with the expanding market. This film follows each step in the production of a typical product -- a Chippendale-pattern candlestick, first produced in 1914. It was largely filmed on site at the former JW Evans silverware factory, in Birmingham's Jewellery Quarter.
