A brief for a project on Ira Aldridge by the BCA in collaboration with the Old Vic theatre. Aldridge was an American and later British Black stage actor and playright in the early 19th century who became famous for his Shakespearean roles. He is the only actor of African-American descent honoured with a bronze plaque at the Shakespeare Memorial Theatre.
