Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots is a lever-action mechanical toy in which two plastic molded robots box each other in a ring. The object of the game is to knock the head off of your opponent's robot. The 1973 version is nearly the same as the original, designed by the famous Chicago firm Marvin Glass & Associates, which debuted in 1964. The enduring success of the toy may in part be due to its initial vigorous advertising campaign, which featured two boys playing with it.
