Originally from Glasgow, Jack Webster, CM (1918-1999), was a highly regarded and recognized journalist in newspaper, radio, an television in Vancouver from the close of World War II until his retirement in 1995. He reported for CBC, The Vancouver Sun, CKNW, BCTV and CHEK-TV. In 1963, while working for CKNW, Webster successfully acted as mediator during a hostage stand-off at the BC Penitentiary, at the request of the prisoners.
