This mannequin wearing a 'hard hat' diving suit is nicknamed a 'Jake'. The suit was made in China in the last half of the 20th century and was used in work constructing a bridge in Shandong province.
This sort of suit dates from the invention of German Augustus Siebe in 1837. By the 1960s it had become obsolete, but it was vital when, in February 1946, Capt.WA Doust began clearing the 230 wrecks, including 16 large ships, that had to be done to make Hong Kong fully operational as a port.
