Jaltarang

Jaltarang is an Indian melodic percussion instrument. It consists of a set of varying size of ceramic or metal bowls tuned appropriately by filling in different quantities of water. The edges of the bowls are struck with beaters, one in each hand. This instrument is played solo or as part of an ensemble. Tuning this instrument is not easy and requires a skilled person to do so and is done by changing the quantity of water in the bowls.
