James J. Wood, electrical pioneer who experimented with motors and arc-light generators. Wood's electric company became part of the Fort Wayne Electric Corporation in 1890 and the Fort Wayne Electric Corporation joined GE in 1898 and became GE's Fort Wayne Works. Wood became the factory manager.
