Bust portrait of James Wilkinson (1757-1825), in military uniform, body turned slightly left, head 3/4 left. Apparently powdered hair, blue eyes, mole on forehead over sitter's left eye. Black stock & cravat, white shirt frill. Buff waistcoat; dark blue coat with buff facings, gold epaulettes with 1 silver star, both with brass buttons. Dark brown background. Gilt wood frame with carved edge on each side of cove; oval opening in spandrel.
