Jan Komensky

Komensky (1592-1670) was a Czech philosopher, teacher and theologian who is considered the father of modern education. He led schools and advised governments across Europe about principles of education. He developed textbooks in native languages instead of Latin and believed in universal education - equal access to education for the poor and for women.
