Jang Bo-go at Sea

Commissioner Jang Bogo established the Cheonghaejin Garrison on present-day Wando Island in the year 828 (third year in the reign of King Heungdeok of Unified Silla). This painting depicts the naval escorts of his impressive fleet destroying enemy vessels, some belonging to pirates from Tang China.
