Excavated in 1984 on the Al-Zubarah site, this jar is decorated with a turquoise-green glaze both inside and out.
It is made of fine buff-white clay and consists of a thick-walled body, a short neck without a handle, and a small annular base. The lower half of the body is decorated with an engraved motif all around its circumference: a wavy line surrounded by two horizontal lines bordered by diagonal lines. This jar was used for the storage of liquids or food, especially date syrup (dibs). The successive excavations carried out at Al-Zubarah have uncovered areas built exclusively of madbassa (place of production of date syrup) and the regional trade must have been intense during the 18th and 19th century.
