The jar was formed by coiling, the trace of which can be clearly observed on the surface of the body. The unique thick, angular mouth rim is one of the characteristics of the jars produced during this period. Feldspar granules protruding from the coarse clay body are visible on various parts, producing a distinct texture on the surface. Several large pale-green patches of natural glaze, made as a result of ashes spontaneously spattering on the surface, produce a superb aesthetic appearance. It can be said as one of the masterpieces of Shigaraki jars of the Muromachi period (1392-1573).

- Object Notes(japanese): 粘土紐を段々に積み上げて成形されたもので、シルエットにもその痕跡がはっきりとうかがえます。段のある独特な口のつくりはこの時期の特徴を示しています。信楽特有の粗い土には随所に長石の粒が噴き出し、独特の手触り感を生み出しています。淡緑色の自然釉が窯の中で降りかかった跡が数ヶ所大きな斑点となっており、見事な景色となっています。室町時代の信楽甕を代表する優品といえます。
