The J's Garden has flowerbeds bordered by low boxwood hedges carved in the shape of the letter ‘J’, as these are the initials of João Henrique Andresen and Joana Andresen, the previous owners of this Quinta. These flowerbeds reflect the revival of the geometric garden, particularly from the 17th and 18th centuries. Within the boxwood beds are mixed masses of annual plants, such as lilies, gladiolus and dahlias, following the fashion of the ‘Wild Garden’, which was very popular in England at the time.
