Jarrow Town Hall was designed by local architect Fred Rennoldson. Dated 1902, the baroque-style building is constructed in red brick and bright red glazed terracotta. A plaque in the council chamber commemorates the decision taken there in 1936 to march to London, to protest about poverty and unemployment. It became known as the Jarrow March or Jarrow Crusade.
