Jasperware medallion

Josiah Wedgwood (1730-1795) produced these small medallions to support the campaign to abolish the slave trade, in about 1787. They could be set into items of jewellery, which could be worn to show support for the cause. Wedgwood sent 400 of these medallions to Benjamin Franklin in Philadelphia to be distributed to supporters.
