The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (“the Joint”) returned to Poland in 1981 with the goal of providing aid to aging Holocaust survivors. As the Communist government began to falter, the Joint widened its mandate and began helping Poland’s Jewish communities build for the future. This particular visit was made at the invitation of the Union of Religious Jewish communities of Poland. JDC President Henry Taub is accompanied by the Joint’s Executive Vice President Ralph Goldman and Joint Country Director for Poland, Dr. Akiva Kohane.
