Jean-Baptiste de Monet Chevalier de Lamarck (1744-1829)

Portrait of Jean-Baptiste Pierre Antoine de Monet, chevalier de Lamarck (1744 – 1829), often known simply as Lamarck. French naturalist, biologist, academic, and soldier. He was an early proponent of the idea that biological evolution occurred and proceeded in accordance with natural laws. He was also a zoology professors of Johann Baptist Spix at the "Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle", Paris.
