Jerked Beef Rubble - Toilet II

Beginning with painting and developing images relating to the Brazilian colonial period, like tiles, a transformation can be seen in Varejão’s work as she has started to investigate materiality in her pieces. Cuts now reveal what is behind the surface of a tile, and the innards of objects can be seen through these incisions or through their sides.
