In 2002, 15-year-old Wesley Jones showed excitement, along with many other Buffalo Bills fans, when quarterback Drew Bledsoe joined the team. After many successful years with the New England Patriots, Bledsoe threw for three years with the Bills from 2002 to 2004, and then went on to sign the Dallas Cowboys. The Bills fared well during Bledsoe's time, falling just one game short of making the playoffs in 2004. No fault of Bledsoe, critics claim that Buffalo's defense grew weak during this period. Wesley and his father enjoyed watching the games together and they attended training camp at Rochester's St. John Fisher College--summer home of the Bills. His father purchased a football jersey for Wesley, marked with Bledsoe's number 11 and name across the back.
