Jesus Christ in the Thursday Procession

This image depicts Jesus Christ, the central figure of the  Thursday procession (of the Holy Week Processions of Mendrisio), wearing the crown of thorns and carrying the cross. In the Thursday procession, known as Funziun di Giüdee, the role is performed by an anonymous participant, whose identity, according to local tradition, must remain secret.
