Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

Composition in light shades of rose, ochre, green, white and gray tones, earthy, black and red. Smooth and thick texture in some white areas. Figures represented with significant and deliberated deformed expressions. It depicts Jesus being stripped of his tunics. In the center of the composition, Jesus standing facing forward, with the right arm extended to the side through which a draped cloth is covering part of his body. His left arm is bent and his fist in front of the bare chest. On the left, a soldier figure pulling the cloth that wraps the body of Jesus and on the right, soldier profile to the left, holding a spear that is grounded on the floor and using a short kilt. Behind the group, on the ground, a huge cross traverses the width of the composition slightly diagonal, from right to left and top to bottom. Ground in rose and ochre background, strong contrast of light and dark shades can be noticed, which accentuate the drama of the scene. .
