“JEWEL IN THE CROWN: Karachi under the Raj 1843-1947” held in October 2004, was a treasure trove of some 2000 objects, archival documents and images drawn from over fifty institutions and private lenders throughout Pakistan. Displayed in forty galleries of the Palace building and its lawns, the objects on display include arms and armour, textiles and clothing, personal memorabilia, portraits, engravings, photographs, statuary and decorative objects.. The galleries were ingeniously arranged to celebrate the evolution of Karachi from a sleepy fishing village into a vital trading center on the Arabian Sea.
